With the July 4th weekend closing in fast, area anglers and recreational boaters are preparing for the biggest weekend of the summer months. Fishermen will definitely have to rise early and be on the lakes at dawn if they wish to fish quiet waters. Boaters, skiers and the seadoo crowd will begin arriving around 10 a.m. Bass anglers will find Old Hickory Lake bass fishing good for largemouth bass measuring 12 to 13 1/2 inches. Council asks police, courts to enforce noise ordinance

Metro Council is attempting to put teeth in its current noise ordinance. Council has asked the police department and the courts to explain within 60 days why citizens have not been cited for excessive noise from boom boxes and car radios. Neighborhood complaints are on the rise, according to the District 22 Councilwoman Norma Hand, particularly concerning music blaring from car stereo systems. Hand and District 13 Councilman Tony Derryberry co-sponsored legislation asking for the crackdown. More
