Job Corps recruits in Middle Tennessee

Job Corps, the federal program that helps economically disadvantaged youth find promising careers through education and job training, has two informational bus trips coming up.

On March 17 and April 7, interested students will spend the day at the Whitney Young Job Corps Center in Simpsonville, Ky. Job Corps students will serve as guides on the tour, which includes lunch and plenty of time for questions and answers.

Smith Seckman Reid wins engineering award

Smith Seckman Reid, a Nashville-based engineering design and facility-consulting firm, earned the top award in the American Council of Engineering Companies of Tennessee annual statewide awards competition.

SSR received the Grand Award for Engineering Excellence for its work on the Metropolitan Nashville District Energy System, a new facility that replaced the previous waste-burning plant that had been operated since 1974 by the Nashville Thermal Transfer Corporation.
