Beauty spa Tiba de Nuhad Khoury is closing its doors in The Mall at Green Hills after nearly 25 years there.
Owner Nuhad Khoury sent a letter to her customers last week informing them that the spa would be closing at the end of January.
Before the mourning begins for Tiba fans, apparently she’s just leaving the mall and will reopen elsewhere but where hasn’t been announced. Khoury wouldn’t comment beyond the letter.
“Our lease agreement terminates with Tiba on Jan. 31, and she’s made the decision to pursue other opportunities or interests and that’s all we know,” says General Manager Hank Woerner, The Mall at Green Hills.
Whatever she’s doing it looks like it will in place by March 1 and have fewer services. Clients who don’t use gift cards by the end of January can use them beginning March 1 at a new location, according to a message clients get when they call the phone number in the letter.
In her letter to customers she wrote, “Now, I’m thrilled to create a new chapter in my life. I look forward to creating a healthier balance for myself, a different business model and a deeper commitment to a variety of social issues.”
The phone message says spa services and skin-care accessories but makes no mention of the Chez NuNu Bistro.
For mall, Tiba’s exit opens up a highly visible location inside an entrance that could attract another luxury tenant.
Over the past three years, the mall has been adding higher-ends tenants such as Tiffany & Co. and Louis Vuitton. Last month, the mall announced Burberry, Juicy Couture and Lacoste were opening next year.
