Franklin-based MyOutdoorTV has named Albie Del Favero chief executive officer. Del Favero was most recently Nashville-area group publisher at SouthComm, the parent of The City Paper.
MyOutdoorTV bills itself as the largest provider of outdoor enthusiast video programming on the Web. The two-year-old venture hosts about 8,000 hunting, fishing and shooting sports videos as well as outdoor travel destination videos from across North America. It expects to post 2009 revenues of $1 million.
According to David Hall, a former TNN executive and MyOutdoorTV co-founder partner, TNN’s sale to CBS created a void in the television marketplace for hunting and fishing programming.
“A lot of the programming at TNN was geared to outdoorsmen and that programming contributed to TNN’s growth and eventual spot as the fifth most watched cable network in the country,” said Hall. “MyOutdoorTV.com gives those programs a home as well as creates other video content of interest to outdoor enthusiasts.”
Before his current role at SouthComm, Del Favero was publisher of The City Paper and founding publisher of the Nashville Scene.
“It is obvious that broadband penetration has made on-demand online video a strong competitor of television," he said. "In today’s media world, you’ve got a big advantage if you have content that attracts a strong endemic ad base, and hunting, fishing and shooting certainly fill that bill.”
