Local revenue cycle management outfit Emdeon has inked a deal to acquire the GE Healthcare Information Technology patient statement business, which provides bulk printing and mailing services.

Through the deal, GE Healthcare IT customers will have access to Emdeon’s print and electronic patient billing services, return mail management, eCashiering, lockbox services and other patient communications.

The GE Healthcare IT unit works with more than 400 hospitals and physician groups. Emdeon, which this month filed to go public, will integrate the business with its network of 1,200 payers, 500,000 providers and 5,000 hospitals around the country.
