Nearly 30 people have lost their jobs as the result of a major restructuring of EMI Christian Music Group Friday.

Company President Bill Hearn announced that the new EMI CMG Label Group has been formed to consolidate all operations of the ForeFront and Sparrow record labels, and a new centralized marketing unit has been created.

The restructuring resulted in the layoff of 27 people company-wide, leaving the music company with 261 employees in the Brentwood offices, spokeswoman Tricia Whitehead said.

Hearn said the move will allow the company to devote more resources to music creation and the development of new revenue streams and customer relationships.
