Shirley joins Ardent Health Services

Doug Shirley has joined Ardent Health Services as vice president, revenue cycle. He will oversee all revenue cycle functions for the company, including patient access, charge capture, charge description master, and the business offices.

Shirley has more than 10 years of health care financial experience and was most recently an independent health care consultant. Previous employers include LBMC Health Plan Assurance Services LLC; Progressive Healthcare Inc.; and Ernst & Young LLP.

Shirley holds a bachelor of business administration degree from the University of Georgia, Athens. He is a member of the Healthcare Financial Management Association and Young Healthcare Leaders of the Nashville Healthcare Council.

Mailnet Services hires Mancini as VP

Mailnet Services Inc., an Internet-based communications and marketing company, has named Mike Mancini as its new vice president of sales.

Mancini, who has 25 years of experience in sales and marketing, will lead Mailnet Services' sales team and develop and execute the company's overall sales strategy.

Formerly, Mancini was senior vice president of sales and marketing for SalesLink Corporation, a Chicago- and Boston-based marketing distribution services firm, primarily involved in supporting the sales and marketing needs of leading mutual fund complexes and other large financial services providers. Prior to his tenure there, he was in key positions serving the direct marketing needs of some of the nation's largest companies.

Mancini brings to Mailnet Services significant expertise in marketing planning, creative, production, database warehouse design and management as well as a background in response analysis and data analytics.

He also served as president of Chicago-based Mancini Butler Inc., where he played a lead role in the startup of two digital marketing communications companies.

Innovative Financial Group adds Hoots

John Hoots was recently selected to join Innovative Financial Group as a financial representative. Based in Nashville, Innovative Financial Group is affiliated with John Hancock Financial Network, a national insurance and investment marketing organization.

Hoots has more than 25 years of experience in the insurance and financial services field and is dedicated to helping his clients achieve their personal financial goals. He is a member of the Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors.

HR Group hires Peterson as benefits specialist

The HR Group has hired Agnes Peterson as a benefits specialist. Peterson joins The HR Group with more than eight years of benefits experience.

Prior to joining The HR Group, she worked with Pen Holdings Inc. Peterson will be assisting with benefits administration, including claims resolution, billing, coordination of open enrollments, etc.

Rape & Sexual Abuse Center adds therapists

The Rape & Sexual Abuse Center (RASAC) announces two new therapists. Kay Wells and Rebekah Zahurones are recent additions to the RASAC staff.

Wells obtained her masters in science from the University of Memphis. She is licensed by the state of Tennessee as a professional counselor. Wells' focus at the center will be adolescents and adult survivors.

Zahurones most recently interned with the center through the University of Tennessee and just completed her masters in social work. Zahurones will be working with children, adolescents and adults.

Convention Bureau names Davis director of communications

The Nashville Convention and Visitors Bureau (CVB) has named Caroline Davis senior director of communications. In the position, she is responsible for overseeing the overall communications efforts of the CVB including creative, copywriting, production and public relations.

Davis joins the Nashville CVB after more than 17 years with performing rights organization BMI, where she most recently held the position of director, media relations, Nashville, and editorial director, BMI Online.

A graduate of Vanderbilt University, Davis is a member of the board of directors of Leadership Music.

Olsen joins Pinnacle Financial Partners

Pinnacle Financial Partners has named Martha B. Olsen as its chief people officer. She was most recently senior vice president for development with the National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB).

Olsen has been a human resources professional and community leader in Nashville for more than 25 years. She was vice president of human resources and administration with the NFIB for five years before leading the organization's development efforts. She led the human resources programs for Baptist Hospital in Nashville for nine years and First American Corporation for two years. She also served as the commissioner of revenue and the commissioner of personnel for the state of Tennessee between 1979 and 1986.

Actively involved in the community, Olsen serves on the boards of directors of Baptist Healing Trust and the Saint Thomas Health Services Foundation. She is also an adjunct faculty member in the School of Business at Belmont University.

Stringfellow Technology hires Nichols

Chris Nichols has joined Stringfellow Technology Group's client services department. Nichols brings more than eight years of experience in the technology field to STG.

Stringfellow Technology Group has been providing outsourced technology management and support services in the Southeast for more than 10 years.

Rogers Group names Wick director of engineering

Michael Wick has been appointed director of engineering and environmental for aggregate operations by Rogers Group Inc.

Wick brings more than 20 years of experience in the aggregate industry. Prior to joining Rogers Group, his most recent position was as business development and greenfield manager at Lafarge North America in Baltimore, Md. He has also held management positions with Rinker Group (formerly CSR) of Knoxville; Franklin Industries of Nashville and Pennsy Supply of Harrisburg, Penn.

Wick holds a bachelor's degree in mining engineering from Pennsylvania State University and a master's degree in business administration-finance from Lincoln Memorial University.

Mastrapasqua adds Graziano to research team

Neal Graziano has joined Mastrapasqua Asset Management's independent research team as a research analyst for the firm's Growth and Core Equity portfolios.

Prior to joining Mastrapasqua, Graziano served as a research associate with the Investment Management Department of William Blair & Company in Chicago, as a member of the U.S. equities large-cap growth and all-cap growth team. Previous to William Blair, he was a mutual fund analyst with Pioneer Investments out of Boston.

He is a Chartered Financial Analyst, member of the Investment Analysts Society of Chicago (Nashville), an International Federation of Technical Analysts colleague and a Market Technicians Association affiliate. He received a bachelor's degree from Michigan State University and an M.B.A. from the University of Chicago Graduate School of Business.

VUMC's Mason elected to nurses group leadership

Donna Mason, manager of the Adult Emergency Department for Vanderbilt University Medical Center, has been elected as the new president of the national Emergency Nurses Association (ENA). Mason will serve as president-elect over the next year, and president in 2007.

Pinnacle Financial promotes Dunn, adds Gregory

Pinnacle Financial Partners is enhancing its Brentwood presence with two appointments in the Brentwood market.

Brad Dunn, who has managed Pinnacle's Brentwood office since it opened in 2000, has been named area executive for the Brentwood market. Sharon Gregory, a veteran in financial services in the Nashville area, is Pinnacle's new office manager in Brentwood.

Dunn has more than 18 years of financial services experience. In addition to his five years as Pinnacle's Brentwood office manager, he spent 13 years in private client banking and as a securities broker.

Gregory, with more than 20 years of experience locally, comes to Pinnacle from Bank of America where she served as assistant vice president and banking center manager. Prior to Bank of America, she served in a similar role for US Bank.

Easter Seals appoints Kelly HR director

Kristi Kelly has joined Easter Seals Tennessee as human resources director.

Most recently, Kelly was corporate human resources manager with Nu-kote International where she was responsible for corporate policy, staff sourcing and recruitment, compliance, workers compensation and employee relations systems. Prior to Nu-kote, Kelly worked for Vanderbilt University and Avon Products in Rye, N.Y., helping both companies in the area of training and orientation.

Kelly holds a masters of leadership and organizations and Bachelor of Science in human and organizational development from Vanderbilt University. She is president of the Williamson County Human Resources Association and a member of the Society for Human Resources Managers.

Christian Medical Center adds Presentation

Tennessee Christian Medical Center announces that Philomina Presentation is now accepting new patients at her TCMC Psychiatric Group offices in both Brentwood and Madison.

Presentation comes to Tennessee Christian as a board-certified physician by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. After having fulfilled her residency requirements at the University of California and Vanderbilt University Medical Center, Presentation also completed an addiction psychiatry fellowship at VUMC.

With a curriculum vitae spotlighting her time spent working as a psychiatrist at area health care centers including the New Life Lodge, where she served as director of psychiatry, and including research in endocrinology at Stanford University, Presentation brings behavioral health experience to Tennessee Christian. She is the medical director of the Partial Hospital Programs at Tennessee Christian Medical Center.

VUMC's Chung receives Research Investigator Award

The Damon Runyon Cancer Research Foundation has awarded its major clinical investigator award to a Vanderbilt physician-scientist for the third time since 2002.

Christine Chung, assistant professor of medicine in the Division of Hematology/Oncology, is the second investigator mentored by David P. Carbone to receive the Damon Runyon Research Foundation/Lilly Clinical Investigator Award.

The award is intended to foster the careers of promising young investigators who are dedicated to conducting patient-oriented research.

The award will provide $750,000 over five years to support Chung's work to use DNA microarray technology to identify patterns of gene expression to predict which patients with head and neck cancers are likely to experience a recurrence and which recurrent tumors will respond to specific chemotherapies. The award also will retire up to $100,000 in medical school debt.

McNeely Pigott & Fox announces promotions

McNeely Pigott & Fox Public Relations (MP&F) recently announced the promotions of Chad Schmidt and Javier Solano to account supervisor from senior account executive; and Dave Chaney, Brooke Jones and Mary Ruth Raphael to senior account executive from account executive.

Schmidt joined McNeely Pigott & Fox after more than a year as an editor for the magazine Links - The Best of Golf. Schmidt works on accounts in health care, retail and federally sponsored programs, as well as grassroots campaigns locally and nationally. Schmidt graduated from Washington University in St. Louis with a bachelor's degree in English literature and a minor in writing with a special focus on advertising.

Solano joined McNeely Pigott & Fox with 10 years of print journalism experience. A strong writer, he currently works with several government and legal clients at MP&F. Before his arrival, Solano was a reporter and copy editor for two Chicago Tribune-owned newspapers. Solano graduated from Columbia University in 1989 with a bachelor's degree in English.

Chaney joined McNeely Pigott & Fox after receiving a bachelor's degree in public relations from Western Kentucky University. He specializes in writing and media relations, and has experience coordinating government relations, grassroots campaigns and special events for local, regional and national clients.

Jones joined McNeely Pigott & Fox after graduating from the University of Tennessee with a Bachelor of Science degree in communications with an emphasis in public relations. Jones works with clients in the telecommunications, retail and government sectors, concentrating in media relations, special events and marketing.

Raphael joined McNeely Pigott & Fox after graduating from the University of Tennessee with a bachelor's degree in communications and a minor in business. Her public relations experience includes marketing-material development, news and feature writing, event and conference planning for local and national clients, strategic research and media relations.

Woodard named general manager at Sunset Grill

Veteran restaurateur John B. Woodard has rejoined the staff at Sunset Grill as general manager.

Woodard has more than 17 years experience in the restaurant business. He began his restaurant career as a server at F. Scott's in 1988, and after six years at F. Scott's, he joined Sunset Grill's serving staff in 1994. He then worked for three years at Midtown Caf
