Gresham, Smith & Partners add senior staff members

Gresham, Smith and Partners, a leading national architecture, engineering, planning and interior design firm, announced recently that Michael Abt, P.E., and Ket West, AIA, have joined the firm’s industrial group as senior project managers.

Abt, an engineer, brings to GS&P more than 25 years of experience in engineering design and construction management on industrial, commercial and government projects with expertise in facility design for major manufacturers in the food and beverage, metals, automotive and chemical processing industries. Abt has managed several major facility designs including Bridgestone/Firestone’s state-of-the-art tire manufacturing facility in Monterrey, Mexico, Nucor Steel Company’s move to Decatur, Ala. and capital improvements and expansions to Proctor & Gamble’s Jackson, Tenn. manufacturing facility.

West is an architect with more than 15 years of experience in corporate and mixed-use facility design. He most recently served as a principal-in-charge and project manager within GS&P’s corporate and urban design group, managing architectural design efforts for numerous corporate office, medical office and retail mixed-use projects. In his new role, West is managing the industrial facility design for a new H.T. Hackney distribution center in Florida as well as a new MARS Petcare research and development facility in Middle Tennessee.

Meraz joins BMI as new director, media relations

Marlene Meraz has joined BMI as director, media relations. Meraz will be based in the company’s Los Angeles office.

In her new position at the performing rights organization, Meraz will initiate national and regional press campaigns, including working on BMI’s annual Pop, Film/TV, Urban and Latin Awards, as well as coverage of showcases, panels, seminars and other events in support of the Los Angeles writer/publisher and film/TV relations departments.

Meraz comes to BMI from Virgin Records, where she most recently was manager of publicity. Prior to that, she was the marketing manager at Gold Circle Entertainment in Los Angeles. She also worked for Warner/Chappell Music, Inc. earlier in her career.

Staton joins LBMC

Lattimore Black Morgan & Cain, PC (LBMC), one of the Southeast’s largest accounting and business consulting firms, has added Chip Staton as director of firm operations in its Brentwood office.

Staton previously served as a director at Deloitte. His background includes 19 years of experience in finance, internal audit and information technology. He is a certified public accountant and earned a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Texas A&M University.

First Farmers & Merchants Bank appoints new leadership team

First Farmers & Merchants Bank has named its leadership team for the newly opened Franklin branch located at 9040 Carothers Pkwy.

Veteran banker Craig Holland serves as Williamson County president and leads the expansion effort into the Franklin market. Holland brings more than 27 years of banking experience to First Farmers & Merchants Bank. He previously served as regional president for Community First Bank & Trust and held positions at AmSouth Bank, First American National Bank and American National Bank & Trust in Bowling Green, Ky. Holland earned his bachelor’s of science degree in finance from Western Kentucky University, completed the Kentucky School of Banking program at the University of Kentucky and the Graduate School of Banking at Louisiana State University. He retired from the United States Army Reserve in the grade of Major following 23 years of enlisted and commissioned service.

Additional personnel at the Franklin branch include Dick Sevier who serves as first vice president and commercial relationship manager, Lucy Quillin is mortgage lender and Melissa Goodman is assistant branch manager.

Sevier has 35 years of commercial banking experience and previously served as senior vice president and manager of business banking at Bank of America. He is a graduate of Christian Brothers University in Memphis and the Graduate School of Credit and Financial Management, Amos Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth College.

Quillin brings with her more than 20 years experience in banking with 15 years in mortgage lending. She received her bachelor’s of art degree from DePaul University in Chicago.

Goodman previously served as loan officer for Marshall Bank in Hallock, Minn.

cj Advertising hires four new members

cj Advertising, a Nashville-based advertising agency, recently hired five employees. cj’s newest employees are Troy Dossett, director of print services; Vicki Carter, producer; Autumn Eades, Yellow Pages manager; and Amy Walter, director of production.

Dossett joined the cj team in September 2007 as director of print services. The Hopkinsville, Ky., native brings a frenetic energy and practical agency experience to the table after years of running his own business. Dossett is also the director of MarketingTools4Lawyers, managing the business, design and mail fulfillment needs of its print marketing services. Prior to joining cj, Dossett founded and owned the advertising firm, Thumbprint Creative for 12 years.

Joining the ranks of cj’s team as a producer in October 2007, Carter brings more than 20 years of production experience to the table. Her tenure in television production has led her to work with several high-profile clients, including Chef Emeril Lagasse, Dick Clark Productions, Federal Emergency Management Agency and the Tennessee Titans.

cj Advertising added Eades in November 2007 as a Yellow Pages manager. Her experience working at ACS MultiMedia as an account executive for more than 20 clients honed her skills in media placement, campaign management, invoicing and tracking.

Walter joined cj Advertising as director of production in December, 2007. She manages production projects from start to finish, coordinates with other departments on creative initiatives, and ensures the smooth sailing of the department on a day-to-day basis. Her work spans a wide spectrum, including director of production at StagePost, writing and producing with National Geographic, MTV, CMT, TNT, TBS, Fox Entertainment, Warner Bros TV and CNN, and supervisor of production for Foxworthy’s Blue Collar TV.
