Cumberland Heights adds Pevsner & Triplett

Cumberland Heights, one of the Southeast’s oldest and most experienced alcohol and chemical dependency treatment facilities, has named Vicki Pevsner chief of clinical operations (CCO) and Ed Triplett chief financial officer (CFO).

Pevsner has more than 30 years experience in the fields of chemical dependency and psychiatry. Previously, she was a member of the faculty at the University of South Carolina at Charleston in the department of psychiatry and adjunct faculty member of Yale Medical School’s departments of psychiatry and pediatrics.

She spent 20 years as chief executive officer at Pine Grove Behavioral Health & Addiction Services in Hattiesburg, Miss. She received her undergraduate degree from Mississippi State University and master’s degree in social work from Louisiana State University.

Most recently, Ed Triplett was senior vice president, finance for Ozburn-Hessey Logistics.

From 2001 to 2005, he was corporate treasurer for Doane Pet Care Company. He has also served in financial and accounting leadership roles for Service Experts Inc., Ingram Industries and Sovran Bank. Triplett holds a B.S. degree in business from Wake Forest University and an M.B.A. from the Owen Graduate School of Management at Vanderbilt University.

Advent adds Simpson, new content champion

Advent announces that Vanessa Simpson has joined the company as executive assistant to CEO John Roberson and company Vice President Todd Austin.

Simpson comes to Advent after six years in the mortgage industry, where she worked as a production assistant for firms like Wells Fargo Home Mortgage and Countrywide Home Loans.

Advent also has promoted company blogger Bill Taylor to the position of content champion. The position entails blogging on diverse subjects and keeping information current and relevant on AdventResults.com.

Taylor, who started his career at Advent in the warehouse, quickly gained attention for his blogs that communicated cutting edge marketing techniques.

A graduate of Hampden-Sydney College, Taylor majored in history with a concentration on the classics.

Praxis hires Layfield as marketing director

Praxis, a company specializing in centralized patient recruitment for clinical research studies, has appointedChris Layfield as director of marketing. In his new position, Layfield will lead the marketing department that includes the development of targeted patient recruitment and retention campaigns for clinical research trials and Praxis’ own B2B marketing campaign management.

As a former traffic manager, account supervisor and eventual partner at a successful agency, Layfield developed and implemented strategic marketing communications plans for a variety of clients including consumer and business-to-business accounts.

Layfield holds a B.S. degree in business administration and finance from UT-Knoxville.

McNeely Pigott & Fox adds staff associates

McNeely Pigott & Fox Public Relations has announced the addition of Holden Miller and Sarah Reed as staff associates.

Miller graduated from Auburn University in Auburn, Ala., with a bachelor’s degree in communication. She completed an internship with MP&F in the spring of 2008.

Reed graduated from the University of Rhode Island with a bachelor’s degree in human development and family studies. Her experience includes an internship at FLAnk, Inc., an architectural design and real estate development firm in Manhattan, N.Y., where she worked on the company’s public relations team. Reed completed an internship with MP&F in the spring of 2008.

Pitts new VP of sales at Lightning Source

Lightning Source Inc., the leading provider of demand-based book manufacturing and distribution solutions to the book industry, announced that Mark W. Pitts has been appointed to the new position of Vice President of Sales for the Americas.

He joins Lightning Source from Glatfelter Co., headquartered in York, Penn.

“Mark has more than 20 years of experience as a high-energy executive driving supply chain solutions, environmental strategy, marketing, direct and indirect sales, and customer support,” said J. Pitts will lead Lightning’s sales team for the Americas reporting to David Taylor, senior vice president of Global Sales for Lightning Source Inc. and managing director of Lightning Source UK.

Earlier in his career, Pitts was a purchasing manager for Doubleday and Co. Inc. In his professional activities, he has been a member of the Association of American Publishers, a board member of the Book Industry Study Group (BISG), and a member of the executive committee of the American Forest and Paper Association.
