BB&T names head of area operations

Natalie Ruggiero has been named head of BB&T’s Middle Tennessee operations. Since joining BB&T in 2004, Ruggiero has served as a business services officer and regional corporate banker.

Before joining BB&T, Ruggiero worked with FedEx for five years as a senior auditor. She earned her MBA with a concentration in finance from the University of Tennessee and her undergraduate degree in business administration from the University of Memphis.

VUMC media department reorganizes

Vanderbilt University Medical Center's office of news and public affairs has reorganized and promoted several staff members to new positions.

John Howser, formerly assistant director and director of media relations, has been promoted to deputy director. Howser, who joined VMC in 1987, will continue to oversee media relations and will also assume a broader role in the office's administrative responsibilities.

Wayne Wood, assistant director, has been named executive director of new media. Wood, who joined the staff in 1981, will continue to serve as editor of House Organ and the Medical Center's annual report. Wood also is on the faculty of the Vanderbilt School of Medicine, where he teaches an elective called Medicine and Media.

Nancy Humphrey has been promoted to assistant director and director of publications. Humphrey, who will continue to edit Vanderbilt Medicine, received a bachelor of arts degree in journalism and history from Western Kentucky University. She joined the staff at Vanderbilt in 1993.

Jerry Jones has been promoted to assistant director of news. Jones, who joined VUMC in 2000, is the medical center's regional news director. He has a bachelor of arts degree in communications and journalism from Lipscomb University and a master's in public administration from Tennessee State University.

Patton joins KPAC Solutions as VP of marketing

Spencer Patton has joined KPAC Solutions as vice president of marketing. He previously was a consultant with Delek US Holdings, where he focused on cost-cutting strategies.

Patton also is founder and former managing director of P&P Management, a privately held fixed income and equity fund. Before that, he provided operations assistance for TrustCore, a private wealth management firm in Brentwood. He graduated from Vanderbilt University with a bachelor of science degree in economics and psychology.

Southern Hills promotes three to director

Southern Hills Medical Center has promoted Janet Buck to director of food and nutrition services. She joined Southern Hills in 1996 from Fort Sanders Regional Medical Center in Knoxville. Buck received her bachelor’s degree in food technology and master’s degree in nutrition from The University of Tennessee.

David Cathro has been named director of case management, filling the position opened by the retirement of director Pat Cunningham. He received his bachelor’s in sociology from Creighton University and master of social work from the University of Nebraska.

Jackie Neach has been promoted to director of cardiovascular services. She joined Southern Hills Medical Center in 2006 as a critical care nurse, having previously held the same position at Rockdale Medical Center in Rockdale, Ga. She received her bachelor’s degree in nursing from Michigan State University.

Echo adds two

Online entertainment marketing company Echo has named Keith Gibson senior sales executive and Jeannie Naujeck senior account manager.

Prior to joining Echo, Gibson served as director of national accounts for MercurySports in Brentwood. He also has worked at Orbison Records, OneMusic Corporation and Sony Music Entertainment. Previously, Naujeck was music and entertainment business reporter for The Tennessean. Prior to that, she was a producer for National Public Radio news programs in Washington, D.C.

Chamber adds, promotes community action staff

Chris Cotton has joined the Nashville Area Chamber of Commerce as research programs coordinator. Cotton previously served as an intern for the Chamber’s community action department and graduated from Belmont University with a bachelor of business administration in entrepreneurship and finance.

The chamber also has promoted Erika Sumner to director of policy development. Her duties include heading the annual Prosperity Project and conducting research necessary for the implementation of the annual Leadership Study Mission.

Advent promotes Smith to account executive

Marketing firm Advent has promoted Ryan Smith from account coordinator to account executive. Smith, who started as an intern with the company last year, moved up to account coordinator in January. A graduate of Lipscomb University, Smith previously was worked as a casting director, assistant talent executive and audience coordinator.
