Gulch to get more fine dining

Business associates of famed Birmingham chef and author Frank Stitt have joined forces with a local developer to open an upscale casual restaurant called Watermark in The Gulch.

The partners in the Nashville-based Hospitality Development Group plan to debut the eatery in mid-November beneath the Mercury View Lofts at 507 12th Ave. S., filling in a key piece of a developing eating and entertainment district.

The partners, including long-time Nashville developer and investor Jerry Brown, have renovated a 7,500-square-foot former print shop into a restaurant with seating for 225 indoors and on an outdoor patio. The project was designed by architect Patrick Avice du Buisson.

Diners will sit at white tablecloths and most of them will pay between $18 and $30 for entrees, Brown said. The restaurant will carry some 200 labels of wine.
