Lewis King names Cole president, managing shareholder
Defense litigation firm Lewis King Krieg and Waldrop has named local attorney Lisa Ramsay Cole president and managing shareholder.
Cole has been managing partner of the firm’s Nashville office since mid-2011 and will continue in that role. She has been with Lewis King for more than 20 years and works with clients on cases involving employment law, workers’ compensation, medical malpractice and general casualty defense.
“Lisa has a proven track record of leadership in our Nashville office,” said Richard Krieg, chairman of the board of Lewis King. “She has been very effective in her role and has received a vote of confidence from the shareholders. We are certain that under her leadership Lewis King will continue to grow and move forward.”
Cole joined Lewis King after her first year at the University of Tennessee College of Law. Prior to attending law school, she graduated cum laude from Bethel College with a bachelor’s degree in natural sciences.
“This appointment is a great honor for me,” said Cole. “Lewis King has provided me with a wealth of experience and direction during my professional career, and I am privileged to have the opportunity to give back to the firm through this leadership role.”
Lewis King is home to about 60 attorneys at offices in Knoxville, Nashville and Sevierville. The Nashville office comprises 27 lawyers.
Centerstone names CFO
Centerstone has named Steven Holman chief financial officer.
Holman will direct fiscal operations for Centerstone of America and each of its companies. This will include assessing the organization’s performance, overseeing financial reporting and developing long-term strategies and annual budgets across the Nashville-based company’s operations in Indiana and Tennessee.
“Steve’s vast healthcare experience and proven success in leading financial operations will be important to Centerstone as we continue to grow across the country,” David C. Guth, Jr., Centerstone CEO, said in a release. “As CFO, Steve will serve as the point person for our financial decisions, providing ongoing analysis and recommendations to help improve all of our operations in Indiana and Tennessee, and advance our mission of preventing and curing mental illness and addiction.”
Holman has more than three decades of finance and management experience. He most recently served as CFO at Nashville-based Precedent Health, Inc. There, Holman led the organization’s equity and debt financings, directed its acquisitions and developed physician quality reporting programs.
Previously, Holman worked at Heritage Health Systems/Universal American Corp. where he was CFO for the Medicare Advantage HMO division with operations in several states. He also has held executive management positions in finance at Lakeside Community Health, FHP International Corporation and Deloitte & Touche.
Holman received a Bachelor of Science degree in business administration from the University of Southern California Marshall School of Business.
First Advantage Bank adds Nall
First Advantage Bank has brought on Doug Nall as a vice president and commercial real estate relationship manager at its West End office.
Nall comes to Clarksville-based First Advantage from Beacon Federal, a New York bank with an office in Smyrna that was acquired last year. There, he managed a $34 million portfolio. Nall has more than 30 years of experience and specializes in commercial and industrial small-business lending.
“Doug’s extensive and diverse business banking background strengthens our team of experts and supports our position as a trusted financial partner and advisor for Nashville area businesses,” said Yogi Dougher, senior VP and commercial real estate market manager for First Advantage. “We are growing rapidly in this new location, and Doug’s addition helps us support and maintain that growth.”
Before his two-year stint at Beacon Federal, Nall was a senior vice president at Pinnacle Bank and also worked at the former SouthTrust and Franklin National Bank, among others.
Nall’s hiring is part of First Advantage’s push into the Nashville MSA, which started with the opening of its West End office last year. More recently, the $360 million bank drew up plans to enter Williamson County as well.
The Andrews Group adds associate broker
The Andrews Group has added associate broker Taylore Massa to the Nashville agency’s sales team. She will assist homebuyers and sellers throughout Rutherford County.
Massa holds a bachelor’s degree in interior design.
Vanderbilt names vice chancellor for IT
Vanderbilt University has named John M. Lutz its first vice chancellor for information technology.
Lutz, who most recently served as president of IBM Canada, will oversee all information technology at the university and medical center with the exception of clinical applications and IT funded by sponsored research.
“John will bring exactly the experience and vision we need in our efforts to offer world-class information technology at Vanderbilt in support of education, research and patient care,” VU Chancellor Nicholas S. Zeppos said in a release. “Information technology is a critical contributor to the continued growth, success and leadership of our institution.”
While with IBM Canada in Ontario, Lutz led what is one of IBM’s larger country operations both in revenues and in workforce size, with major offices in Toronto, Montreal, Ottawa, Calgary and Vancouver. He was with IBM since 1984 and worked in a variety of U.S. national and global positions based in Ohio, Texas, Georgia and New York. He also served in a key London-based market-facing role across Europe, the Middle East and Africa.
The creation of the new vice chancellor position resulted from an information technology transformation initiative that began in the fall of 2012. VU Vice Chancellor for Administration Jerry Fife, Vice Chancellor for Finance and Chief Financial Officer Brett Sweet and Associate Vice Chancellor for Health Affairs and Chief Administrative Officer John Manning jointly served as chief information officer in an interim basis while the search to fill the position was underway.
Lutz graduated magna cum laude from Harvard University in 1984 with a bachelor’s degree in linguistics and computer science. He is a member of the board of directors of the Conference Board of Canada, the Council of Canadian Chief Executives, and the advisory board of the Center for Talented Youth at Johns Hopkins University.
Varallo Public Relations hires media professional
Bethany Davis has joined Varallo Public Relations as senior account manager.
Previously, Davis was with local CBS affiliate NewsChannel 5/WTVF. During her nine-year tenure with the station, she was promoted several times, serving as producer/director for the station’s cable channel, morning news producer and national sales coordinator. Davis also served on several internal teams including the station’s social media task force, setting policy for the company’s entry into social media.
Davis attended Trevecca Nazarene University, earning her master’s degree in management. She completed her undergraduate work at Western Kentucky University earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in broadcasting.
BOHAN Advertising adds four to staff
BOHAN Advertising has added four employees to its graphic arts and account management teams.
Allison Bohan, previously a marketing coordinator at Quorum Health Resources, is an account executive. She earned an MBA from Middle Tennessee State University and a bachelor’s degree in marketing at the University of Tennessee.
Logan Buerlein, previously designer and marketing director at Jive, has joined as a graphic designer. Before moving to Nashville, Buerlein worked at Design Manifesto in Richmond, Va., after earning a degree in creative advertising at Virginia Commonwealth University.
Richard Chenoweth has joined the agency as a production artist. He previously was an assistant sales support manager at Ajax Turner. Chenoweth earned a degree at the Art Institute of Pittsburgh.
Claire Reynolds, previously a marketing coordinator at Print Media in Bowling Green, Ky., is on staff as a graphic artist. She earned a degree in advertising and graphic design at Western Kentucky University.
