Canova promoted at MNAA

The Metropolitan Nashville Airport Authority has promoted John Canova to manager of properties within MNAA Properties Corp.

Canova is responsible for day-to-day management, organizing and directing of functional activities.

Prior to joining MNAA in 2008, Canova worked as assistant director of properties at Pittsburgh International Airport and as senior airside operations officer at Fort Lauderdale International Airport. He has more than 25 years of professional experience in real estate and property management.

Turf Managers adds Kaufman

Turf Managers has hired Martin Kaufman as director of sports turf management.  

Kaufman, who has 13 years experience in managing sports turf in Middle Tennessee, began his career with the Tennessee Titans as assistant sports field manager. He then worked for Tennessee State University and, most recently, at Ensworth School as the head groundsman and sports field manager.

Kaufman has overseen operating budgets and vendor contracts, and employee hiring and training.

Cabedge adds strategic designer

Cabedge Design, LLC, has promoted Matthew Rogers to creative director after a brief stint as strategic design leader.

Rogers once served as partner, principal and creative director of Franklin-based marketing firm Primarily Rye. Previously, he was partner, co-creator and creative director of Digi-Graph Design in Nashville.

Rogers holds a bachelor's degree in fine arts from Middle Tennessee State University.

Relatedly, Allen Willis will serve Cabedge as marketing services director.

Willis, a business strategist with experience in web project management, organic search and social media marketing, previously worked with GiveAGift.net. He has served as an adjunct professor of religion at Bethel University in Nashville and Clarksville and also as an office manager for Nashville Capital Corp.

Corizon announces chief mental health officer

Corizon has promoted Dr. Joe Pastor to chief mental health officer.

Pastor will supervise the Corizon Behavioral Healthcare team and provide consultation for patient care and mental health staff in jails and prisons. He will serve on Corizon’s specialty panel of physicians.

Pastor has worked in correctional health care since 1997, serving various facilities in both Ohio and Colorado. He joined Corizon in 2009 as associate chief mental health officer/chief of psychiatry and was promoted to vice president of behavioral health in 2011.

Pastor earned his medical degree from the Ohio State University College of Medicine and completed fellowships in child and adolescent psychiatry at both Brown University and Harvard University.

Garrett joins LU development team

Trevor Garrett has joined the Lipscomb University Office of Development and Alumni Relations as director of the Lipscomb Associates Program.

Garrett, who serves as associate athletic director for external affairs at Lipscomb, will collaborate with the annual and special giving team on strategies for growing the associates program and provide leadership for other development initiatives.

Prior to his work at Lipscomb, Garrett was deputy to the controller and compliance consultant for the Friends of Fred Thompson during Thompson’s 2008 presidential bid.

Garrett holds a bachelor’ degree in business administration and a master’s degree in accountancy, both from Lipscomb University.

MP&F adds Sledge as account exec

McNeely Pigott & Fox Public Relations has hired Colby Sledge as an account executive.

Sledge is well known in various local circles. He began his career at The Tennessean as a reporter and was most recently the press secretary for the Tennessee Senate Democratic Caucus.

In addition, Sledge is co-chairman of nonprofit neighborhood organization South Nashville Action People, which garnered headlines in 2011 for its stance regarding concerns about racing at the Tennessee State Fairgrounds.

Sledge will graduate in December with a master’s degree in civic leadership from the Nelson Andrews Institute at Lipscomb University.
