Scarritt-Bennett Center announces executive director

Dr. Jocelyn Briddell has been named executive director of Scarritt-Bennett Center.   

As an administrator in higher education for 30 years, Briddell brings extensive experience in facilities management, program planning and community collaboration. Most recently, she served as dean of student life at Connecticut College in New London, Conn. 

Briddell holds a master's degree from the College of New Jersey and a doctorate from Nova Southeastern University. 

SSRCx hires Mertens to oversee building enclosure commissioning

SSRCx, the facilities commissioning and sustainability consulting branch of engineering firm Smith Seckman Reid, has hired Owen Mertens to expand its service line to include building enclosure commissioning.

A University of Wisconsin graduate with degrees in architecture and structural engineering, Mertens most recently was managing partner in charge of the Wisconsin office of SCL Consulting. Before that, he was a building enclosure engineering manager with GRAEF USA.

Bone McAllester Norton adds commercial litigation attorney

Sean C. Kirk has joined Bone McAllester Norton PLLC as a commercial litigation attorney.

Kirk most recently worked at Miller & Martin PLLC.

Kirk represents clients in secured transactions, collections, creditors’ rights and all facets of bankruptcy proceedings and commercial litigation. His clients include institutional lenders and financiers, real estate and equipment lessors, and electronic payment processing companies involved in various industries.

Kirk earned his juris doctorate at the University of Tennessee College of Law.

XMi names Somerville to oversee marketing

XMi Commercial Real Estate has added Laura Somerville as director of marketing and social media.

Somerville will work to expand the Midtown-based company’s client engagement and visibility.    

“[Somerville] brings energy, focus, creativity and exciting new ideas to our marketing and social media efforts,” Stan Snipes, XMi Commercial Real Estate president and principal broker, said in a release.

Before joining XMi, Somerville was an account assistant at DVL Public Relations & Advertising, where she worked with clients such as Jack Daniel’s and Johnston & Murphy to monitor media coverage and assist with event management for the annual Jack Daniel’s World Championship Invitational Barbecue and the USO “Toast to the Troops” programs.  

Somerville, who sits on the boards of the Special Olympics of Tennessee and the Nashville Junior Chamber, was recently honored as one of Nashville's 2012 Top Thirty under 30 by the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. 

Churchill Mortgage adds seven

Churchill Mortgage has expanded its Brentwood office with the addition of seven staff members.

Joining Churchill as processors are Jill Crouch and Brenda Farris.

Denise Warner, Tina Wingate and Cheryl Roberts have joined the company as underwriters.

Jason Richardson has been added as a technical support specialist, while Bobby Sanders joins as a customer care specialist.
