Airport Authority adds Griswold, Sumrall
The Metropolitan Nashville Airport Authority has named David Griswold its director of public safety, effective April 1.
With 30 years of experience, Griswold has served as deputy inspector general for the Tennessee Office of Inspector General since 2004 and previously held several roles, including interim director, deputy director and special agent in charge, at the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation.
Griswold is a graduate of Middle Tennessee State University and the FBI National Academy. In addition, he is a member of the Leadership Nashville Class of 2010 and a graduate of the Tennessee Government Executive Institute.
“Safety and security are MNAA’s top priorities, so the director of our Public Safety Department plays a critical role in the operations of our airports,” Rob Wigington, MNAA president and CEO, said in a release. “We are pleased to welcome David Griswold to the team to continue the strong performance of Public Safety as we meet the challenges facing the aviation industry in today’s environment.”
Relatedly, MNAA has named Shannon Sumrall manager of corporate communications.
In this role, Sumrall will serve as spokesperson and manage all aspects of media relations for Nashville International and John C. Tune airports. In addition, she will coordinate internal and external communications as well as assist with marketing and advertising efforts to promote airport services and the MNAA mission.
Previously, Sumrall served as public information officer for the Tennessee Department of Economic and Community Development.
Sumrall is a graduate of the University of Southern Mississippi where she earned her master’s and bachelor’s degrees in public relations.
“Shannon’s experience in media relations and communications will add depth to our organization’s expanded communications efforts as we continue to publicize and promote the ‘Nashville Airports Experience’ — serving as great airports for our passengers, business partners and employees,” Rob Wigington, MNAA president and CEO, said in a release.
Mosley replaces Cheek as MNAA board chair
Juli H. Mosley has been named chair of the Metropolitan Nashville Airport Authority Board of Commissioners.
Mosley had served as vice chair and becomes the first woman to chair the board. She replaces Jim Cheek, who is retiring after 12 years of service with MNAA.
“We are extremely grateful to Jim Cheek, who generously shared his strategic, financial and legal acumen with the Board and the Authority for the past 12 years,” Rob Wigington, MNAA president and CEO, said in a release. “Jim guided the Airport Authority through extremely challenging and changing times. He leaves behind a legacy of determination, integrity and grace.
“As a member of the Board for the past 11 years, Juli Mosley has been part of many great milestones for the Nashville airports, not to mention the significant strides we’ve seen in just the past few months of our 75th anniversary year of Nashville International Airport,” Wigington added. “Dexter Samuels and Bob Walker will continue to provide critical leadership and expertise to the Board and Authority in their new roles as vice chair and secretary.”
