Franklin-based Tennessee Commerce Bancorp has hired Frank Perez away from his position as vice president and chief financial officer at Cumberland Bank & Trust in Clarksville.

Perez will fill the CFO role held temporarily by Lamar Cox, chief administrative officer at the bank, since the firing of CFO George Fort in May. Fort has sued Tennessee Commerce, claiming bank officials retaliated against him for telling regulators from the Federal Deposit Insurance Corp. about alleged irregularities in the bank’s operations.

Perez, a certified public accountant, has previously worked as a senior accountant for AIG/American General and as an audit manager and senior accountant for public accounting firms. He also served in the U.S. Army for 10 years.
