Abortion bill fails in House

The state House of Representatives Monday killed an anti-abortion proposal to amend the Tennessee Constitution, ending months of controversial debate.

State Rep. Diane Black (R-Gallatin) attempted Monday to resurrect the proposal, SJR 127, to bring it out of a House subcommittee where it failed last month. Sixty-six of 99 votes in the House were needed to circumvent the committee
