ACLU sees confusion with profiling forms

A member of the American Civil Liberties Union, lobbyist Joseph Sweat, said the new racial profiling forms to be filled out by Metro Police officers after each traffic stop are being misinterpreted and cannot be used against the officers in state court.

Sweat also said it was his understanding that officers were not to fill out the forms for courtesy stops such as telling someone their brake lights are out or helping with flat tires.

Forms from the first six months of the pilot program, instituted in January, have been forwarded to the state comptroller
