After 60 years, Nashville soldier finally receives service medals

At age 82, Emmett Faulkner does not exactly fit the part of a soldier standing ready to receive distinguished service medals.

But then again, Faulkner did not earn his medals recently; he earned them almost 60 years ago. A military paperwork error prevented Faulkner from getting his citations before he was discharged from the U.S. Army in 1947.

That changed on Thursday when, thanks to an observant daughter and a helpful congressman, Staff Sgt. Faulkner finally received the four citations he earned from his Army tour of the Pacific theatre during World War II.
