The man charged with stabbing his girlfriend to death and fatally shooting her cousin the day before is back in Nashville and in police custody.
Demeko “Meko” Duckworth, 30, is being held in a Metro jail on two counts of criminal homicide. U.S. Marshals arrested him in Lawrenceville, Ga., on July 25, and he was returned to Nashville Thursday night.
On July 20, Metro police believe Duckworth stabbed Asia Wade, 30, in the bedroom of her home on Elizabeth Road in North Nashville while Wade’s four children, between the ages of 4 and 9, were also in the home.
Wade’s family discovered her body when they went to check on her after learning her kids didn’t show up for daycare one morning.
Duckworth surrendered to U.S. Marshals in a Walmart parking lot in Stone Mountain, Ga. The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation had recently added him to its Top 10 Most Wanted list.
Duckworth is also accused of shooting Clarence Goins in the head on July 19 in the 1200 block of Hillside Avenue.
He is being held on $1 million bond and has a hearing in court scheduled for Wednesday.
