American General Dinner of Champions

American General and the Nashville Sports Council honored award-winners at their third annual Dinner of Champ-ions last Thursday night.

Lipscomb basketball player Kaia Jergenson was the highlight of the evening as she won the very first Courage Award for her miracle recovery from meningococcal disease.

The Tennessee Titans were big winners as Derrick Mason won the Sports Person of the Year for his performance this season and Titans owner Bud Adams won the Community Spirit Award. Cecil Whaley was the Volunteer of the Year and MBA football and basketball coach Ricky Bowers won the Amateur Athletics Award. Director of Metro Parks and Recreation Jim Fyke was selected for the Lifetime Achievement Award.

The Sports Council Foundation Scholarships, awarded to outstanding high school athletes, went to McGavock
