A Nashville attorney, whose primary clientele included the Hispanic Community, has agreed to an injunction and to no longer practice law while his license is suspended.
Michael H. Sneed, of Nashville, was suspended from the practice of law for 18 months beginning Feb. 24, 2009. The state alleges that by continuing to act as an attorney and advertise his services after his suspension Sneed was violating the Tennessee Consumer Protection Act.
The state’s complaint also alleges that Sneed’s actions violated Tennessee’s Unauthorized Practice of Law statutes.
Sneed signed the agreement to stop practicing law, which was entered Friday by Davidson County Circuit Court Judge Joseph P. Binkley Jr.
Sneed has agreed to immediately stop engaging in the practice of law or advertising his services as an attorney.
The court will also appoint a local attorney in the near future to take custody of Sneed’s client files and assist Sneed’s clients in finding new counsel.
The state is still trying to determine how many people may have been represented by Sneed after his suspension from the practice of law on Feb. 24.
If you were represented by Michael H. Sneed as your attorney at any time after Feb. 24, 2009, please contact the Tennessee Attorney General’s Office at 741-1671 or toll free within Tennessee at 1-877-275-7396.
Because many of Sneed’s clients are Hispanic and much of his advertisement was geared toward the Hispanic Community, the Attorney General’s Office has a Spanish-speaking staff member available to talk with Spanish speaking victims.

That's it? He continued to practice, and all he has to do is sign a paper saying he will stop? No punitive measures? I guess there is one standard for lawyers and one for the rest of us.
