Randolph Maidens, the 42-year-old Brentwood man accused of killing his wife earlier this week, appeared by video link from his Williamson County jail cell Wednesday morning to formally hear the criminal homicide charge levied against him. His bond was set at $2.5 million.
Maidens allegedly shot and killed his wife, Brentwood orthodontist Dr. Rachael Maidens, at their home in the exclusive Governor's Club subdivision in Brentwood sometime on or before Sunday.
Police entered the home as part of a welfare check at the request of the family of Dr. Maidens just before 6 p.m. Sunday. There they found her dead on the scene as a result of a shooting. Also found, unharmed, was the couple's 2-year-old daughter.
Police initiated a manhunt for Randolph Maidens and shut down the roughly 2,000-acre subdivision and golf course until he was located coming out of a wooded area, headed towards his home at about 6 a.m. on Monday.
No plea was entered Wednesday morning. Maidens' first in-person appearance before a judge is scheduled for May 1.
