An Australian chef who accused Belle Meade Country Club of discrimination based on his nationality reached a settlement agreement with the guarded club last week, according to court filings.
Both parties settled the case before Magistrate Judge Joe Brown in the U.S. District Court of Middle Tennessee on April 11. The settlement terms are confidential.
Richard Jones, who started working at Belle Meade Country Club in 2010, filed a lawsuit in 2011 claiming an executive sous chef called him a “Fosters-swilling Aussie bastard,” and referred to Australians as unrefined and undeveloped.
Jones also claimed he was fired by the club because of the executive sous chef's treatment.
