Staff reports

Metro Nashville Police are looking for the man they say robbed the Bellevue Mapco gas station just after 1 a.m. Tuesday.

The robber did not attempt to hide his identity as he robbed the station located on Old Hickory Boulevard just off Interstate 40.

Surveillance video from the store obtained by News2 shows the man walking to the counter with a drink. When he reaches to pay for the drink, he instead pulls a gun and forces the clerk to empty the registers.

The video then shows the robber forcing the clerk to the back of the store.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 74-CRIME.

After viewing the clip, I'm not a security expert, but wouldn't it make sense for the security camera to be behind the counter and facing the customer rather than aimed at the clerk and filming the back of the robber's head. I'm pretty sure in the event of a robbery, we will be able to identify the clerk, but the more important goal seems to be identifying the robber.

No doubt they have more than one camera in that store. Maybe the other one was of poor quality or not working.

I used to like stop at that gas station to buy a donut and a slimfast on the way to work back in about 2001 when I was 22 and had my first job out of college. I pulled my credit card out of my wallet to pay for the item and gave it to the cashier. It happened to be like Discover Platinum card or something, so i guess the old podunk gas station clerk (probably a Kentucky basketball fan) figured that man so young should not have a Platinum credit card already, so he asked for my ID. To his dismay as he saw that I was indeed the man on the card he said, "Mr. Fightcrib, may I ask you a personal question, what is your profession." So I responded, "I'm a Computer Operator. And that was the end of that. So I guess he had carreer envy seeing a young man less than half his age getting some fancy credit card when he couldnt get one. But the irony was I was only making like 32k not mad bank. It's not like I was some young wall street investor punk making mad crazy funny loot. I wish people would lightnen up and not have so much p envy.

Anyway the point of my story is maybe if these clerks could stay in school in high school and study hard and go to a college with top notch academics such as Arkansas or Auburn, (not Harvard, Cornell, or Vanderbilt, because the academic rigour is actually low) than you can get a decent job where you don't get shot at all day. If not you end up working at Dave and Cap Busters or this BP. Out.

So being a police officer is not a "decent" job. They get shot. And I'm sure they finished school. Anyways what are you really saying?
