Plans are underway for construction of a $3 million indoor soccer facility in Brentwood, likely to be located at the city's 170-acre Crockett Park.
The facility would serve northern Williamson County and is needed to provide more space for the county's many soccer leagues. The county's existing indoor soccer arena in Franklin is booked a year in advance and in use every day, according to Doug Hood, Williamson County Parks and Recreation director.
Under draft plans, Brentwood and the county would split the cost of the park, providing $1.5 million each. Brentwood would donate the water and sewer infrastructure and land.
Like the existing facility, the new one would house concessions and a meeting room in addition to the field. The seating would likely be doubled to 200, Hood said.
The city administration is reviewing the proposal and will ask the City Commission for approval at its July 11 meeting, according to Mike Walker, Brentwood City manager. "If they agree to move ahead, then we will sit down and work out an inner-local agreement
