If the Springhouse Golf Club at Opryland was no longer a stop on the Champions Tour, no one would feel it in their pocketbook more than Dr. Gil Morgan.
Morgan, a two-time winner of the tournament and the defending champion, has never finished out of the top five at Springhouse. In six trips, he has earned $778,600, an average of $129,766.67 per tournament.
Morgan admits its tough to say why he does so well in Nashville.
"Obviously, my game has to be in pretty good shape when I play well," Morgan said. "I just feel kind of comfortable here.
"I have a lot of nice memories from previous tournaments here. We're out here to compete. It's always fun to come back and feel like you have a chance to win or be in contention to win."
Morgan, who also won the tournament when it was known as the BellSouth Senior Classic in 1997, won by three strokes last year with rounds of 67, 68 and 67. He has more rounds in the 60s
