The recording industry has finally gotten a toehold in the fight against Internet music sharing, and it comes in the form of your own cable company.
Last week, a federal judge ruled that Verizon Communications is legally bound to help the music industry track those who are illegally downloading music via the Internet. That, of course, could extend to any cable company.
Previously, the recording industry has tried to stem the tide of music downloading by going after the companies that do it. But by using cable companies to police the Internet, the industry has now gotten through your locked front door and on to your laptop.
