Nashville's WKRN-TV News 2 was selected by the Tennessee Lottery as its partner to produce and air drawing game shows connected with the launch of online lottery games.
"For us, it's like we won the lottery," said General Manager Mike Sechrist.
WKRN won the partnership over four other Nashville stations that submitted proposals in a competitive process to air the live drawings.
"We're delighted with the enthusiasm that WKRN has extended to us in its proposal," CEO and President of the Tennessee Lottery Rebecca Paul said.
"The professionalism, creativity and throughness of the package of services offered by WKRN will translate into an entertaining and informative drawing show that lottery players are sure to enjoy," Paul said.
"We want to involve the lottery in all our promotions, from the Tennessee Titans to "Best of the Class", where we honor the high school valedictorian and salutatorian," Sechrist said.
In addition to producing and airing the daily drawing shows, WKRN will assist with promoting the lottery through print and radio ads, community service programs, in-depth focus coverage of scholarship winners and other activities.
The entire WKRN-TV News 2 proposal is worth $2,089,294 annually.
