Chemical spill closes I-24

All lanes of Interstate 24 westbound are closed near Interstate 440 (mile marker 7.6) this morning due to a tractor-trailer crash involving a chemical spill.

Traffic is being diverted onto Murfreesboro Road.

The Tennessee Department of Transportation said the truck was transporting a chlorine substance that is leaking from the truck. The material is not combustible, TDOT said.

The wreck was reported at 10 a.m. and is expected to be cleared by 2 p.m.
