Nashville businessman and GOP activist, Scooter Clippard, who had considered running for governor on the Republican ticket in 2002, released a statement Wednesday ending that speculation.
Clippard has been the president and CEO of the FirstBank and Cumberland Trust & Investment Company since 1998. He says he now has a new focus, concerning a plan to move First Bank and Cumberland Trust & Investment Company into new markets across the state.
Clippard is a graduate of University of Tennessee-Knoxville and currently serves on the agriculture, health affairs, and public service and university relations committees.
In recent months, Clippard has been traveling the state with his wife, Fran, to learn about the visions state residents have for the future.
