Consultants to discuss report on potential fairgrounds uses

Monday, November 5, 2012 at 2:44pm

Consultants who worked on phase one of the Fairgrounds Master Plan are set to report their preliminary findings on potential uses of the Tennessee State Fairgrounds property.

On Wednesday from 6 to 7:30 p.m.
at the Sonny West Conference Center in the Howard Office Building on Second Avenue the consultants will present their phase one analysis at a public meeting.

Early last year, the Metropolitan Council directed Metro staff to develop a “Fairgrounds Master Plan” to analysis future uses for the fairgrounds. Phase one of that plan, the “Fair and Events Analysis,” focuses on potential fairgrounds and event uses for the property.

Phase two is to consider how new, mixed-use commercial and residential development might work on the fairgrounds property.

The Council will make the final decision on the Fairgrounds site’s future.

Details of the process and community input so far are on the Metro Planning Department’s Fairgrounds Master Plan webpage.

No decisions have yet been made, and the study continues.
