Metro Council is attempting to put teeth in its current noise ordinance.
Council has asked the police department and the courts to explain within 60 days why citizens have not been cited for excessive noise from boom boxes and car radios.
Neighborhood complaints are on the rise, according to the District 22 Councilwoman Norma Hand, particularly concerning music blaring from car stereo systems. Hand and District 13 Councilman Tony Derryberry co-sponsored legislation asking for the crackdown.
