Metro Council will select a new president pro tempore at its Tuesday meeting to replace Councilman Greg Adkins, whose one-year term is finished.

District 19 Councilwoman Erica Gilmore and District 25 Councilman Sean McGuire are believed to be the two favorites for the post.

The pro tem, selected by a majority Council vote, runs meetings in the event Vice Mayor Diane Neighbors is absent. Additionally, the pro tem would become vice mayor in the event the office is vacated.

The pro tem is also responsible for running Council announcements prior to regularly scheduled meetings.

First LEED Platinum mixed-use development on public hearing

Council will also consider a bill on public hearing at Tuesday’s meeting, which would bring the first LEED Platinum-certified mixed-use development to Nashville. The proposed development would come to the corner of 16th Street and Ordway and would contain commercial units at street level with residential units on the second floor.

LEED Platinum is the highest certificate level for developments.

Chickens get their day on Council

A bill to allow backyard chickens in urban services district, with exceptions, will also be up for public hearing.

The bill, introduced by Council members Kristine LaLonde and Jason Holleman, would clear up a quirk in the zoning code which left the regulation of backyard chickens ambiguous.
