Metro Councilman-at-Large Adam Dread is in critical condition at Vanderbilt University Medical Center after a single-car crash on Franklin Road Friday.
Dread is suffering from an "intracerebral bleed." According to reports, Dread suffered no injuries as a result of the car accident.
Dread was in the driveway of Franklin Road Academy at 4700 Franklin Road at about 12:30 p.m. when, according to witnesses, he seemed to wave then slump down behind the wheel of his 1992 Jeep Cherokee. The Jeep then proceeded slowly across all four lanes of Franklin Road, down an embankment, through a stone wall and into a tree.
Dread was elected last fall to the at-large seat when Howard Gentry Jr. was voted in as vice mayor.
During his career, Dread has worked as a radio personality, local columnist and stand-up comedian. He is currently attending Nashville School of Law.
According to a Metro Police Department press release, Dread was wearing his seat belt. There was no evidence of alcohol or illegal intoxicants.
