Metro Councilman-at-Large Buck Dozier was unanimously selected by his peers Tuesday to serve as president pro tempore for the 40-member legislative body until Aug. 31, 2005.

Dozier was nominated for the position, which serves in the absence of the vice mayor, by council members Rip Ryman and Ludye Wallace.

Wallace said the position requires someone who is fair, impartial and familiar with the rules and Dozier meets those qualifications.
