Metro Councilwoman At-large Megan Barry on Friday announced the first television advertisement of her 2011 run for re-election.

The ad, which will begin to air on cable television on Saturday, will run on various broadcast and cable channels between now and election day.

In the 30-second spot, Barry focuses on the heart of her campaign: what she calls, in a release, dedicated, ethical leadership for the people of Davidson County. Barry says she approaches civic issues from the perspective of a business professional who is involved in her community as well as from the point of view of a wife and mother.

“I had never held public office until almost four years ago when the people of Davidson County honored me with their confidence,” she says in the spot. “I have found my service to be rewarding and challenging and look forward to another four years of engagement in the critical civic issues of the day.”

Barry, who chairs the council’s Budget and Finance Committee, continues in the ad, “Making Nashville a growing, vibrant and inclusive city is central to economic development and job creation.”
