After 10 years as a local parish, Covenant Presbyterian will open Covenant Christian School to kindergarten, first- and second-grade students this fall. The school is in the new church facilities atop Redbud Hill, 33 Burton Hills Blvd., in Green Hills.

Pastor Jim Bachmann and his 700-member congregation will extend the school to sixth grade upon completion of the three-phase building project. In addition to the 47,000-square-foot classroom building, a 1,200-seat sanctuary, a fellowship center, a commercial-sized kitchen and a high-school-sized gymnasium are other highlights of the project.

A formal dedication will be held April 22. The new facilities are just two blocks north of the church
