Czubik leads Bruins

In a sports world where records fall like dominoes and personal achievement is revered above team performance, Belmont University soccer player Cristin Czubik is a genuine breath of fresh air.

On the stat sheet, the numbers say the senior has not scored in her last six games. But numbers seldom tell the whole story and such is the case with Czubik.

"We have been playing tougher teams, but that isn't the reason she hasn't been scoring," said Belmont coach Sterling Nabours. "She can definitely take over a game and take care of business if she needs to or wants to.

"She has made the necessary moves to create opportunities for other people. She has been very mobile, moving around and helping her other teammates out. Our younger players see her unselfish play. They know they are getting the opportunity to do things because of her. If Czubik wanted to take over the games she could and they wouldn't have those opportunities."

Czubik has been the consummate team player, but she also has enjoyed her share of records at Belmont. Having played for the boys
