NASHVILLE - Elbert Floyd "Peck" Allen, 84, died Oct. 28, 2003. Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Phebe C. Allen; daughter, Patricia Ann (John) Gill; sons, William C. (Phyllis) Allen; granddaughters, Kristin Bragg, Whitney Allen and Marley Allen; and sisters, Ruby (Waldon) Smithson and Honor (Glenn) Huff. He was a longtime member of Perry Heights Church of Christ and a part owner and salesman at Harris Electric Supply. A funeral service will be conducted at 10 a.m. today with Brother Kenneth Smithson officiating. Pallbearers will be family and friends. Interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery.

KINGSTON SPRINGS - Betty Beasley, 67, died Oct. 28, 2003, at Centennial Medical Center. She was born Dec. 24, 1935, in Dickson County. Mrs. Beasley was a homemaker. ANTIOCH/WOODBURY - Colby Shane Cantrell, 22, died Oct. 28, 2003. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Ruby and Clarence Martin, and Leslie and Louell Cantrell. NASHVILLE - Mary Catherine Cunningham Ford, 86, died Oct. 29, 2003. She was preceded in death by her parents, Annie Gilmore and Walton Cunningham Sr.; husband of 42 years, Vaden Nichols (Nick) Ford; daughter, Margaret Lynne Ford; and brother, Walton (Bud) Cunningham Jr. Survivors include her daughter, Anne Carolyn Ford; sister, Anne Cunningham (Joseph) Maddux; brother, John J. (Dorothy) Cunningham; sister-in-law, Carmen P. Cunningham; and many nieces, nephews and treasured friends. The family wishes to express its deepest appreciation for the care, love and devotion of Maxine Campbell and Gwendolyn Brown. She was the matriarch of the Cunningham clan and was proud of her Irish roots. Ms. Ford was a graduate of St. Cecilia Academy and a 1939 graduate of Vanderbilt University where she was a member of Gamma Phi Beta sorority. Music was a very important part of her life; she was the organist at Holy Name Catholic Church. She was a charter member and communicant of St. Henry's Catholic Church. Ms. Ford was a leader and supporter of the Girl Scouts of America; active in various organized bridge clubs, Forrest Hills Garden Club and the Centennial Club; a life-long member of Ladies of Charity; past president and treasurer of the Robert Cartwright Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution; a lifelong member of the Ladies Hermitage Auxiliary; and a member and supporter of Cheekwood. Active pallbearers will be Joe Maddux Jr., John Maddux, Bill Golab, Cas Cheshire, Harry Shields, Stuart Southard, Walton Cunningham III and Mark Cunningham. HERMITAGE - Dr. S. Laws Parks, 87, died Oct. 28, 2003, of emphysema. Survivors include his daughter, Bobbi Umbach (Ken); daughter, Ellen Bourne (John); grandchildren, Trey Riley (Julie), Julie Burnette (Bryan), Amy Phillips (Caleb) Phillips; and great-grandchildren, Brigit and Mia Riley and Noah Phillips. Survivors include his sister-in-law, Barbara Bunn. His wife Esten Perry Parks died in January 2003. Dr. Parks retired from Greensboro College, Greensboro, N.C. as business manager-treasurer and lecturer in economics and business administration. He was born in Dover, Tenn., the son of a Methodist minister. He graduated from Columbia Military Academy and Athens College. He received an honorary degree from Athens College in 1974. He served in business administration in colleges in Kentucky and Tennessee during his long career in higher education. He was a member of Corinthian Lodge No. 414 in Nashville. A lifelong Methodist, early in his career he served as a minister in the Tennessee Conference. At Mount Pisgah UMC in Greensboro, a Sunday school class was named for him. He was in the Couples Class at Belmont United Methodist Church, where he was a member. A funeral and burial service will be held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Woodlawn Chapel and Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be held from 7-9 p.m. today and from 1:30-2:30 p.m. Saturday. The service will be conducted by the Rev. John Collett and the Rev. Linda Johnson.
