Metro Police Hermitage Precinct detectives are asking for the public’s assistance as they attempt to learn the circumstances surrounding the death of a homeless man who is last known to have lived in Memphis.

The partially decomposed body of Marion Hollingshed, 47, was found Sunday afternoon inside an abandoned and previously burned house at 87 Donelson St., police said.

Youngsters walking through the house discovered the body and notified authorities.

Police said Hollingshed was not shot or stabbed. A head injury was found at autopsy, but it is not known how the head injury occurred.

Neighbors told police they saw homeless persons around the house on Friday.

Anyone seeing Hollingshed during the past week, or knowing the identities of persons he associated with, is urged to contact Hermitage Precinct Investigations at 862-7727.
