Last week: 3-1
Overall: 26-14
MBA (9-0) at Brentwood Academy (8-1)
After an official DDs investigation, I've concluded there is no truth to the rumor that MBA and BA players will skip this annual showdown to go trick-or-treating with their parents down Belle Meade Boulevard and Granny White Pike. Instead, the Big Red and the Eagles will treat fans to a Clinic Bowl appetizer, as these two are a lock for the Nov. 22 battle at Vanderbilt. MBA, with the psychological advantage, wins. MBA 28, BA 21
FRA (5-4) at CPA (4-5)
If this is indeed FRA coach George Weicker's final season, the Panthers may be extra motivated to see their coach in the playoffs one last time. But beating the defending state champs on the road, with a postseason berth awaiting the winner, is too tall a task. CPA 34, FRA 14
Dickson County (8-1) at Franklin (8-1)
For the third straight week, a Williamson County school will line up opposite Dickson County, which has beaten Centennial and lost to Brentwood on back-to-back Fridays. Franklin may be the Cougars' toughest challenge, especially since a Rebels win clinches the region's top seed. Franklin 24, Dickson County 20
Lipscomb (9-0) at Ezell-Harding (7-2)
Ezell is a good team, but the Eagles have yet to beat a team better than them this season, as losses to Goodpasture, DCA and CPA (before the forfeit) suggest. Beating the defending Class 2A champions would give coach Scott Smith's team a much-needed confidence boost, but the Mustangs will prove too tough in this playoff tune-up. Lipscomb 27, Ezell-Harding 17
