A recent abundance of grant money allotted to the Donelson Station Senior Center will offer support in educational programs and much-needed repair work.
A $5,000 grant from the Bridgestone/Firestone Trust Fund follows a $62,500 grant given by the United Way. This is the first time in four years that the United Way has funded the center for general operations.
Jane Schnelle, director of the Donelson Station Senior Center, said they were not equipped to facilitate an outcome-based program, a necessity in receiving funding from the United Way. The center must have proof that a program has a significant impact and outcome on the participants.
