A little creativity at bat and a lot of shutdown from the mound coalesced into a Vanderbilt victory Thursday.

Four Commodore pitchers combined to permit three hits and Vandy (5-3) pushed across three runs in the first two innings in handing Trevecca (8-4) a 4-0 defeat at Hawkins Field.

Freshman Blake Owen (1-0) tossed four innings of one-hit ball and struck out two in his first start.
