The Antioch Bears already had a star running back in junior LaMarcus Coker.

But coach Thomas McPhail knew he had another talented back in sophomore Preston Brown, who needed to get some carries as well.

Thursday night, he was glad he made that decision as Coker and Brown combined for 186 rushing yards to help the Bears to a 23-16 victory over host Hunters Lane and in the process capture the Region 5-5A championship.

Coker ran for 105 yards and one touchdown on 16 carries, while Brown added 81 more yards and a touchdown on 17 rushes. Brown not only chipped in as an offensive complement to the more heralded Coker, but also had a key forced fumble that the Bears recovered on a kickoff to help seal the outcome.

The victory, coupled with a forfeit win awarded over Gallatin, allowed Antioch to finish the region schedule unbeaten at 6-0 and to better its overall mark to 9-1 heading into next week
