E-mail sniping trumps talk of mayor

The telephone habits of new Nashville Area Chamber of Commerce President Ralph Schulz trumped talk of the 2007 mayoral race and of the status of the downtown Nashville Sounds ballpark among city political gossips this week after Metro Councilman Jamie Isabel e-mailed the council Tuesday complaining Schulz was ignoring him.

The e-mail, in which Isabel suggests Schulz may have ignored his phone call for reasons of race, prompted response e-mails in defense of Schulz by Metro Council Members-at-Large Adam Dread and Diane Neighbors. Schulz himself then drafted a response letter, stating he did, indeed, return Isabel
