An East Nashville couple was arrested early Wednesday morning for allegedly growing a large amount of marijuana inside their home, police said.
An officer working a traffic stop said he noticed the scent of marijuana coming from a home, which he eventually narrowed down to 1228 Chester Ave. before calling for backup.
After obtaining a search warrant, police said inside the home they found 245 marijuana plants, about three pounds of processed marijuana and grow equipment, including lights, timers, thermometers and plant food.
Joseph Janos, 44, and Jessica Tate, 26, were arrested and now face felony charges of manufacturing a controlled substance, possessing a controlled substance in a drug free school zone and possessing drug paraphernalia.
The couple’s home was within 1,000 feet of Cora Howe Elementary School. Both were in jail Wednesday morning on $125,000 bond each.
