State Rep. Joe Carr (R-Lascassas) says he’s exploring a bid for the 4th Congressional District and has formed a steering committee to help him determine whether he will run for the office.

Carr would be the second statehouse Republican to consider challenging embattled Congressman Scott DesJarlais, who was caught up in revelations this election season that he pressured a patient he was dating to have an abortion.

“The voters have told me that a trust has been violated. The voters want someone who not only lives by their values but will fight for them. The time for back slapping good ole boy politics is over and Tennesseans understand this,” said Carr in an emailed statement.

The exploratory committee will be chaired by Lee Beaman, the politically active head of Beaman Automotive Group.

Carr joins east Tennessee's Rep. Kevin Brooks (R-Cleveland), who announced last month he is exploring a challenge to DesJarlais in 2014.

Officials with the Tennessee Democratic Party plan to deliver damning transcripts today from DesJarlias’ divorce proceedings to investigators with the Tennessee Department of Health.

The transcripts reveal that DesJarlais, who is a doctor, had sexual relationships with multiple patients.

DesJarlias, a second-term congressman, has said he expects to seek re-election.

I would wish the influential persons to note that an important and well-written comment, be me, was deleted from this post-board earlier today .

I would suggest Mr. Carr has only a slightly better chance of beating the
Congressman than would Mr TharonChandler. Both would probably have
to depend on their own dollars to launch a campaign.

Ummm, no they don't understand this. It was obvious before the election that DesJ was an unethical liar who needs to be in jail--yet they still voted for him.
