Five students win MDHA-backed scholarships

Five young residents of Nashville's public housing developments were awarded $1,000 worth of scholarships each to assist with their college education Thursday at the 18th Annual MDHA Scholarship Awards Day.

Stratford High School alumnus Roberto Downes, who is a junior at Austin Peay State University, was a recipient along with McGavock High School graduate Sharron Campbell, sophomore at Alabama A&M, and Katherine Hunter, a freshman at Austin Peay State University. Pearl Cohn High School graduates Naya Davis and Conswala Flemming, who are a freshman and sophomore respectively at Tennessee State University, also received the honor.
