Memphis Democrat John Ford, who quit the state Senate in a letter dated Friday, applied for his state pension on the same day and will now get $2,507 per month for the rest of his life.
The troubled senator, arrested by federal agents last Thursday for alleged extortion, bribery and threatening a witness, will make roughly $30,084 in pension funds annually based on his 30 years and six months served in the state Senate. A sitting legislator currently only makes $16,500 per year.
